This Brazilian decaf is produced by smallholder farmers across mixed regions in Brazil. The coffee is grown on farms utilising advanced mechanical harvesting techniques, ensuring only fully ripe cherries are selected. After harvesting, the cherries are dried in thin layers under direct sunlight on patios, monitored and turned frequently for optimal quality. The coffee features a blend of mixed varietals, showcasing Brazil’s rich coffee-growing heritage. The result is a decaf coffee with a smooth and rich flavour profile, offering notes of dark chocolate, toffee, and almond. This coffee is well-suited for various brewing methods, including espresso, filter, and cafetière. Old Spike also have a fantastic social enterprise model that is well worth checking out.

Decaffeination Process
Decaffeinated using the Methylene Chloride (MC) process, the beans are moistened with water, and MC is circulated to bind and extract caffeine while preserving most flavour compounds. The beans are then steamed to remove any remaining MC residue.
