This Colombian decaf coffee originates from the farms surrounding the Galeras Volcano in the Nariño department of Colombia. Grown at an altitude of 1,850 MASL, the beans are a mix of Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia varietals. These smallholder farmers, supported by Promotora Cafe de Altura, are incentivised with premiums for maintaining high-quality standards and sustainable agricultural practices, avoiding harmful chemicals like glyphosate. The coffee is processed using the washed method, ensuring a clean and vibrant flavour profile. It is then decaffeinated using the Ethyl Acetate (EA) process, which employs a natural compound derived from fermented sugarcane. This method preserves the coffee’s inherent characteristics while removing 97% of the caffeine. The resulting cup is smooth and well-balanced, with tasting notes of caramel, red apple, and dark chocolate. Ideal for espresso, stovetop, or cafetiere brewing, this coffee showcases the exceptional quality of Nariño’s coffee-growing regions.
